Clinical/Research Interests:
Airway pharmacology, physiology and pathophysiology. Current studies focus on the role of inflammation, specifically nitric oxide, in the genesis of lung tumor development. Other areas of interest include investigation of properties of the airways that influence the biological activity of inhaled substances. In the course of these studies, in vitro and in vivo pharmacological approaches are used to provide new information about the physiology and pharmacology of the airways and how drugs can be delivered more efficiently to the body via the pulmonary route of administration.
