Non-Degree Admission
Thank you for your interest in the University of Colorado Denver Nontraditional PharmD program as a non-degree student.
Our Application Deadlines are:
- Fall Semester (courses start late August): August 15
- Spring Semester (courses start early January): December 15
- Summer Semester (courses start late May):
Eligibility: To be eligible as a non-degree student, you must be a current licensed pharmacist in the United States or Canada and/or have completed your BS in pharmacy from an accredited university. Other countries of licensure will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Once approved, you are eligible to take any of our didactic courses offered each semester, but please be aware that many courses require pre-requisites and you are responsible for selecting courses which you are qualified to take. Please see the course descriptions at the website.
As a non-degree student, you are still subject to the same financial fees, academic ethics code, and deadlines as our degree-seeking students.
For California Pharmacists seeking credits in order to retake the state examination: Review the course descriptions, the schedule of courses, and academic calendar at this website to confirm that our courses will enhance your preparation for retaking the California board exam. The courses provided by the NTPD program are clinical in nature and cannot be expected to improve a student’s skills in the areas of dispensing medications or managing operations, which account for over half of the California board exam.
In addition, you will not be able to obtain 16 credit hours in one semester because we do not offer that many courses, and many have pre-requisites. You will probably need 2-3 semesters to complete 16 credits. Also note that some of the NTPD courses are offered over two semesters.
Please note that any ethics or conduct violations will be reported to the California State Board.
Academic Credit: In order to receive credit, you must earn a 70% or a C grade in the course. To continue as a non-degree student, you must maintain a grade point average of 2.0 or higher in your coursework. If you fall below this GPA, your continuation in the course will be subject to approval by the Assistant Dean.
Financial Aid: Non-degree students are not eligible for financial aid from the University. Non-degree students may obtain aid from private sources. Our office and the University Office of Financial Aid does not provide assistance in this matter.
Application Process: Please visit http://www.uchsc.edu/registrar. Select “Forms” from the menu options at the left, and choose “Non-Degree Student Application.” You must download this form, complete it, and mail it to the address below. Please note that you do not need to obtain the instructor’s signature since the assistant dean of postgraduate professional education will approve or deny your application. Do not forget to sign the front page and indicate which courses you would like to take this fall. If you application is accepted, we will send you further information about course registration and payment.
Please note that you must re-apply every semester to continue as a non-degree student.
