How to Access Materials from the Library
Students in the NTPD program have access to over 23,000 online journals, many information databases and online text references through the Health Sciences Library at the University of Colorado Denver's Anschutz Medical Campus. Access to these materials is a valuable resource available to NTPD students for their professional use while enrolled in the NTPD program. The Health Sciences Library has created a subject specific pharmacy resources web site.
Assistance in obtaining access to full-text articles and other library resources is available on the library home page at: http://hsclibrary.uchsc.edu/databases/. The "Handouts" section of the website links to a library fact sheet which may be helpful with orientation. A " Tutorials" page links to online instruction for library resources. New students should review the " Health Sciences Library 101" tutorial which provides instruction via Flash video.
Library databases and journals may be accessed from home or workplace. Login is your name and student ID number (no dashes or spaces). Use MyNCBI via PubMed to link directly to the Health Sciences Library full text journal holdings via the green and white “Article Linker” button (change the results list Display to AbstractPlus). You can also save your searches, and have searches updated and emailed to you. PubMed is funded by the National Library of Medicine and will be freely available to you throughout your academic career with NTPD.
You may also use Ovid to access MEDLINE which allows you to set up auto alerts, recover searches and save searches. Ovid is a subscription database to which you have access to while studying at the University of Colorado Denver.
Reference questions can be answered by the library staff at 303-724-2109. In addition, librarians can be reached via "Ask a Librarian," offering both email and instant messaging service.
