Dr. Venu Akuthota is an Associate Professor and Pain Fellowship Director of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He is triple-board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Pain Medicine and Electrodiagnostic medicine. Dr. Akuthota is the author of more than 50 publications and has spoken and chaired various national and regional conferences. He is a founding senior editor of the journal PM&R and the upcoming President of the Physiatric Association of Spine, Sports, and Occupational Rehabilitation (PASSOR). He offers expertise in the aggressive non-surgical management of low back and neck injuries through sports medicine and injection techniques. Dr. Akuthota currently also serves as a team physician for University of Colorado Buffaloes and University of Denver Pioneers. His primary research interests are in the sacroiliac joint and using exercise to combat low-back injuries.
