Restoring Stem Cell Research
The Denver Post reports that US House Representative Diana DeGette is preparing legislation to overturn President George Bush's ban on stem cell research. Representative DeGette makes arguments for resumption of stem cell research and calls for increases in funding.

President-elect Obama has stated publicly that he intends to lift these limitations. Representative DeGette suggests that he should do so immediately as well as address ethical oversight and the need for national guidelines. When President Bush's ideological ban is set aside in favor of logical, ethical guidelines, many scientists predict a renewed interest in federal funding for stem cell projects.
