All degree seeking students enrolled in 5 or more hours are required to have insurance. As a result, all full-time students are automatically billed for the Student Health Insurance Plan. If you have a comparable insurance, you may qualify to waive the Student Health Insurance Plan please see the section on waving and SHI.
The Student Health Insurance Plan is an annual full-service medical insurance plan tailored to the needs of the students of the Health Sciences Campuses. The plan is underwritten by the Great-West Life and Annuity Insurance Company and administered by AmeriBen 1-800-626-5520. The annual cost of the student insurance is $2183, half ($1091.50) is charged to your tuition bill in the fall and the other half in the spring tuition. Spring only coverage from 1/1/08-8/31/08 cost is $1447 billed on the spring tuition bill (you may only enroll in the spring term if you are a new student or have been involuntarily dropped from another plan.
