Surgical Critical Care Fellowship

Program Overview

The University of Colorado/Denver Health Medical Center's Trauma and Acute Care Surgery (TACS) Fellowship was recently approved by the AAST as a formal training site. The 2-year TACS Fellowship includes training in an ACGME/RRC approved Surgical Critical Care training program. The goal of the critical care rotations is to educate fellows in the advanced care of critically ill and injured patients. Rotational experience includes trauma, cardiothoracic, burn, and pediatric, as well as general surgical critical care. The broad experience gained through a diverse faculty and programmatic elements should prepare the fellows for their board examinations as well as a career in academic practice. In addition, the TACS Fellowship incorporates training in advanced technical skills in thoracic, vascular, and hepatobiliary surgery with experience in trauma and emergent general surgery cases.

Our website, with program demographics, hospital/rotation specifics, and application materials, can be easily accessed for further information. Applicants must be board eligible or board-certified by The American Board of Surgery (ABS). The application process includes a completed application, three letters of recommendation, personal statement, and CV. Interviews are granted on a rotating basis beginning in May of each year, with three interview dates per year. We participate in the NRMP match.
