Oct. 2 celebration dedicates Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes at Fitzsimons
Teaching children, adolescents, young adults and their families how to live with the challenges of type 1 diabetes while searching for a cure for the chronic, life-threatening disease is the No. 1 cause for doctors, nurses, researchers and administrators who work at the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes.

However, on Oct. 2, the focus turned to the dedication of their new building at the University of Colorado Denver’s Fitzsimons campus. The Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes made its debut, and now stands as a beacon of hope for young diabetes patients and their families.

5280 magazine lists Top Docs for 2005
This year’s list of Top Docs compiled by 5280: Denver’s Mile High Magazine, includes 84 physicians in 40 categories affiliated with the CU School of Medicine and its affiliated hospital and clinics. There are a total of 58 categories and 250 doctors listed.

CU Cancer Center receives $500,000 from CDC for training Web site
The University of Colorado Cancer Center has been awarded a one-year, $500,000 grant from the Centers of Disease Control to develop a secure blood cancer Web site to educate health care providers in the Rocky Mountain region with state-of-the-art information concerning hematological malignancies.

Picture perfect Sept. 16 ceremony for Lazzara Center for Oral-Facial Health
The Sept. 16 opening ceremony of the CU School of Dentistry’s new Lazzara Center for Oral-Facial Health at the Fitzsimons campus, was truly a picture perfect event. The weather was incredible and the event, held in the parking lot west of the building, gathered more than 300 supporters of the school.
