Founder of Rehab Recordings to host
public presentation at CeDAR
WHAT: An educational presentation about the power of music
in making lifestyle choices, specifically when it comes to addiction. The founder
of Rehab Records, Andy Pace, is an addiction counselor and musician whose recordings
tell a story about addiction to drugs and alcohol and recovery. This event is
free and open to the public.

for Dependency, Addiction & Rehabilitation (CeDAR)

CeDAR is the only premier residential addiction treatment facility in the
Rocky Mountain region. It is the only addiction treatment center in the United
States that operates in collaboration with the Betty Ford Center, one of the
most successful and well-known residential treatment facilities in the country.
CeDAR officially opened to patients on Nov. 1.

Feb. 27: Open forum with President Brown
CU President Hank Brown will be hosting an open forum on the Ninth Avenue
campus, February 27, from 3:30-4:30 p.m. The president will give a state of
the university address, answer questions and concerns and take suggestions
that members of the campus community want to bring forward.
New RTD route connects Boulder to Fitzsimons
The DM bus route offers service from Boulder to the Fitzsimons campus. Stops
include Park-n-Rides at Table Mesa in Boulder, Superior/Louisville, Broomfield
and Westminster.
There are three departure times leaving Boulder in the morning, and three
departure times leaving Fitzsimons in the evening. For route and schedule information,

UCH sponsors Colorado Colfax Marathon: Sign up now!
University of Colorado Hospital is proud to be a presenting sponsor of the inaugural
Post-News Colorado Colfax Marathon to be held May 21, 2006.
Through this sponsorship, the hospital will be involved in a variety of aspects
including providing race day medical support and staffing.
The marathon course, which runs the length of Colfax Ave. – beginning in
Aurora and ending in Lakewood – will take a ‘jog’ into the
Fitzsimons campus on Ursula St., around the flagpole in front of historic Building
500, and back out Ursula St. to Colfax Ave.
The marathon, organized by a Colorado non-profit partnership,
has a mission to:
• Contribute to the economic redevelopment of the Colfax Avenue corridor
• Promote awareness of health and fitness among youth and adults
• Benefit local, youth oriented charitable organizations such as Colorado
Kids.
The 26.2 mile race includes a full and half marathon as well
as the following divisions:
• five-person relay teams
• wheelchair division
• open
• masters
• age groups

Volunteer Tutors and Mentors Needed for Grade School
Students
Palmer Elementary School, a Denver Public School PreK-5 school, is looking
for active community members to help tutor/mentor second through fifth grade
students in an evening tutoring program. The school is located at 995 Grape
St. in Denver.
Tutors participating in this program will:
Provide consistent
tutorial and personal mentoring during one-on-one sessions for 1-1/2 hours
each Tuesday that school is in session, 6-7:30 p.m.;
Transport student
to and from tutoring site. Students should be picked up around 5:30-5:45
p.m. to ensure being at tutoring on time;
Communicate
needs and updates to the liaison teacher;
Communicate
with student and volunteer coordinator when unable to attend; and to
Enjoy themselves
and have a sense of accomplishment in helping a child succeed!
