Bioscience East will open May 1, 2006. Its first tenant will be DMI BioSciences. |
The Fitzsimons Redevelopment Authority (FRA) recently announced
that it has signed a lease with DMI BioSciences, making it the first tenant
of Bioscience East, a newly renovated 25,000 square-foot building
in the bioscience
park at Fitzsimons. DMI plans to occupy almost 15,000 square feet
of Bioscience
East on May 1, 2006.
“
We are excited to welcome DMI BioSciences to the Fitzsimons community,” said
Jill Farnham, acting executive director of the FRA. “DMI is a terrific
example of a mature bioscience company that will benefit from a Fitzsimons
location.”
DMI BioSciences, Inc. www.dmibiosciences.com is a privately-held
biopharmaceutical company currently based in Englewood, Colorado,
that discovers and develops small molecule and peptide-based pharmaceuticals
and biomarkers
for acute and chronic inflammation. DMI focuses on immunologic, vascular
and CNS diseases, including acute coronary syndrome, multiple sclerosis,
Alzheimer's disease, asthma, and cancer.
“
This is a great move for us,” said Bruce Miller, DMI president and CEO. “We
are excited about being located in the midst of the bioscience community
at Fitzsimons, with the opportunity for growth and close collaboration
with others
in our industry.”
The Bioscience East building – a former Army medical lab, with its existing
lab infrastructure including heavy-duty mechanical systems, thick concrete
floors, and dock areas – is being renovated with an open interior to
allow for flexible space planning for meeting the specific requirements
of incoming companies. The building is designed for bioscience companies
growing out of the FRA incubator program and also for new companies joining
the bioscience
park that are already past the incubator stage of growth, which is
the case for DMI BioSciences. Some space is still available in the
Bioscience
East
building.
The building is located on the Fitzsimons Parkway, a new four-lane
thoroughfare running the east and north boundaries of Fitzsimons.
This parkway is currently being constructed and will be accessible
when Bioscience East
opens in May 2006.
