University of Colorado Hospital
partners
with Sterling Regional MedCenter
The CU School of Medicine’s Department of Pathology and Sterling Regional
MedCenter recently announced a joint venture, in which Joe Bonelli,
MD, PhD, will continue to provide pathology services to SRM as well as serve
as a full-time
faculty member in the CU School of Medicine and attending pathologist
at University of Colorado Hospital.
“
Northeastern Colorado will be in good hands with this arrangement,” said
Bonelli. “The university can help in many aspects of diagnostics, more
specialized studies, and provide access to physicians finishing their
residency or medical school in all medical specialties as potential recruitments
to
the Sterling community.”
“
I look forward to our venture and am excited that Sterling Regional
MedCenter is part of the first partnership in the state with outreach pathology
services from the CU School of Medicine and University of Colorado Hospital,” Bonelli
added.
“
This partnership reinforces Sterling Regional MedCenter’s commitment
to provide the highest quality care to the communities of northeastern Colorado,” said
SRM CEO Mike Gillen. “There will be no changes in service for our patients.
With the additional expertise of the university, we are eager to
utilize the extra services available. This venture allows us to continue to
have a strong
relationship with Dr. Bonelli. His passion for providing the most
current pathology practices goes hand in hand with providing excellent patient
care.”
Bonelli is in his sixteenth year at Sterling Regional MedCenter as
staff pathologist and lab director. He has taught throughout the
past sixteen years as a clinical professor of pathology at the CU School of
Medicine. He
became a full-time faculty member at the school on July 1.
