Emotional Intelligence At Work
This session will enable participants identify and integrate the components
of emotional intelligence into the workplace. Effective handling of emotions
is the best single predictor of job success. Functioning in an emotionally intelligent
way is important as we shift from an industrial-based economy to an information-based
economy. The need to develop leaders who can handle the demands of a constantly
changing work environment with rationality and sensitivity is critical. The
five EQ competencies will be addressed and developed: self-awareness, self-regulation,
self-motivation, empathy and relationship skills.
Managing Generations
The afternoon session will explore the perceptions, perspectives, motivations
and other attributes of different generations in the workplace. Generational
issues affect recruitment, job satisfaction, productivity and retention. Discussion
will focus on how managers respond to such issues when designing and communicating
job assignments and performance expectations, developing the work environment
and implementing work-life friendly practices. The session will also examine
generational demographics and the improvement of competitive recruitment and
retention strategies, including succession planning.
