School of Dentistry receives honor for
aiding Louisiana dental students
The University of Colorado Denver School
of Dentistry is a 2006 recipient of an American Academy of Periodontology
(AAP) Special Citation Award.
The UCD School of Dentistry is being recognized for its outstanding
assistance and dedication to the periodontal program at Louisiana State
University (LSU) after Hurricane Katrina.
“
Hurricane Katrina devastated the LSU campus in New Orleans, which housed
the only dental school in the state,” said Kenneth A. Krebs, DMD
and 2005-2006 AAP president. “The UCD School of Dentistry graciously
opened its campus to the faculty and students from the LSU periodontal
program.”
“
It was our privilege to host these individuals who had lost not only
their dental school, but homes, friends and patients as well,” said
Denise Kassebaum, DDS, MS, dean of the School of Dentistry. “Their
determination in the face of these challenges inspired the entire dental
school family.”
Special Citations, sponsored by Pfizer, are given annually by the AAP
in recognition of outstanding work on an Academy committee or special
project.
Fall Festival has a German flair
