HIPAA update 2006 course available
As recommended by CU Internal Audit, and as a follow-up to previous education, all UCD employees who were required to complete HIPAA 101 prior to 2006 are now required to complete the HIPAA Update 2006 course. All UCD employees who received reciprocity for basic HIPAA education taken at an affiliate will also have to complete the HIPAA Update 2006 course. The course must be completed by Oct. 31.
The HIPAA Update 2006 course is a summary of what has changed in
the Privacy and Security Rules since creation of HIPAA 101. It includes
common HIPAA mistakes, a summary of what we’ve learned from our campus compliance
efforts, and a list of basic HIPAA principles. The new course takes 30 to
40 minutes to complete. Those employees who are required to complete HIPAA 101 in 2006 are not required to complete the HIPAA Update Course at this time. Similarly, UCD students are not required to complete the HIPAA Update course at this time.
To complete the HIPAA Update 2006 course, employees must review the content and score a 75 percent or better on the quiz. Your six-digit PeopleSoft employee ID is your Username and Password to access the course. You may find the course at: https://blackboard.cudenver.edu/ or by following the links from http://www.uchsc.edu/hipaa .
You will be able to print a certificate 24 hours after successful completion of the course by logging back into Blackboard, clicking on the HIPAA Update 2006 course link and then clicking on Check My Certificates. The certificate is for your records only. We do not need to receive a copy of the certificate since completion of the course is automatically updated in Blackboard, PeopleSoft, and the training database for the Office of HIPAA Compliance.
