Chancellor’s message on restructuring
During my interviews for the Chancellor position here many months ago, I stated my belief that UCD has the potential to be one of the finest institutions in the world. Now that I have been here for a little over two months, I am even more convinced that we have an excellent institution with potential to be among the very best.

Ombuds Office handles problems
The Ombuds Office was created to provide alternative dispute resolution for the UCD community. Rather than having to file a formal grievance for every misunderstanding, miscommunication, or misinterpretation of a policy or procedure, an ombudsperson can assist individuals in exploring options and alternatives in an informal manner.

Early nitric oxide use may prevent
breathing problems in preemies

Inhaled nitric oxide can significantly lower the risk of lung and brain damage in some very low birth weight premature infants, but children must be studied for several years to assess the long-term, protective benefits of the treatment on brain development, said a Colorado researcher who led one of two studies and whose findings appeared in the July 27 issue of the New England Journal of Medicine.

HIPAA update 2006 course available
