New media relations team member
Caitlin Jenney has joined the news media relations team of the UCD
Office of Public Relations. Her responsibilities will be to assist
faculty and staff of University of Colorado Denver and University of
Colorado Hospital in news media contacts, including pitching news stories
and responding to media requests for information and expertise.
Jenney comes to UCD with a background in public relations, copyediting
and publishing. For nearly four years, she worked as a public relations
professional at GBSM, an integrated communications firm in Denver.
While at GBSM, she acquired solid communications skills and became
proficient in media relations, press material writing, event planning
and implementation, and budget preparation and management for clients
including Donor Awareness Council, Porter Adventist Hospital, The Children’s
Hospital, and Water World.
In addition, Caitlin has worked as a copyeditor at The Integer Group,
the largest marketing agency in Colorado. She recently attended the
University of Denver Publishing Institute, further developing her editorial
skills.
Jenney is an avid supporter of furthering medical research and has
been serving as a committee chair for Generations Cancer Foundation,
a nonprofit organization created and managed by those dedicated to
raising money for cancer research, since its inception seven years
ago.
She graduated with a BA in English and a BA in History from Queen’s
University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada.

Dr. Claman teaches Allergy and Immunology in India
Henry N. Claman, MD, distinguished professor of medicine, recently spent
two weeks in India, where volunteered to teach a post-graduate diploma
course in Allergy and Immunology to Indian physicians.

The course was
for those physicians wanting to broaden their practice to include those
disciplines. The course took place at The Christian Medical College (CMC)
in Vellore, southern India, in the state of Tamil Nadu, and near Chennai
(formerly Madras).
The course was under the auspices of International Asthma Services, an
organization founded by P.K. Vedanthan, MD, associate clinical professor
of medicine (Allergy and Clinical Immunology, UCD) who practices medicine
in Denver and Ft. Collins. The course was coordinated by Dr. D. J. Christopher,
professor of medicine (Pulmonary Division) at the CMC.
The CMC is a century-old establishment which runs a school of medicine
and a comprehensive clinical medical center. Its hospital has more than
2,000 beds and the staff treats 4,000-5,000 outpatients daily. Dr. Claman's
activities included nine seminars, a grand rounds, journal club, discussions
of case presentations and a bit of Medical Humanities. The students were
from several parts of India, and included family physicians, pediatricians
and internists.
Romani resigns position as vice chancellor for
UCD Planning and Development

Timothy D. Romani, who served as vice chancellor for Campus Planning and Development for the University of Colorado Denver since March 2002, resigned the position, effective Dec. 31, 2006.
His responsibilities in this part-time position included the development
of the Fitzsimons project, the redevelopment of the Ninth Avenue campus,
partnerships
with affiliates and collaboration with the Fitzsimons Redevelopment Authority
Bioscience Park.
He also facilitated development of program plans required by
the CU Board of Regents and Colorado Commission on Higher Education and managed
the construction and related activity of major facility projects.
"Tim Romani has done an outstanding job serving the university's development
needs for the move to Aurora," said UCD Chancellor M. Roy Wilson. "He
was just the person we needed to make the vision of the Anschutz Medical Campus
a reality."
Throughout his tenure with the university, Romani has remained as the president
and CEO of Romani Group, Inc., a Denver-based company specializing in sports,
convention center and medical facility projects. He plans to resume full-time
responsibilities with the Romani Group, Inc.
"With the first phase of construction at the newly named Anschutz Medical
Campus reaching completion in 2007-2008, my part of this project is done, and
it is time for me to move on to other things," said Romani. "It has
been an honor to serve UCD in this capacity."
